Aloha Brandon!

So, if it is 9 in the morning here on Maui, what time will it be for you in Antarctica? I thought this question could help me out AND give you practice on answering questions from your ask the team site? :)

warmly,

Maggie

Maggie~What a great question, I have actually been wondering that myself. I think I've got this figured out, though it is a little confusing. Bases and stations tend to keep the same time zone as their home teritory or the supply lines that feed them. In the case of McMurdo Station, the standard time is GMT +12 (aka New Zealand time). Under daylight savings time, it is GMT +13.
GMT is Greenwich Mean Time and is used as an international standard for time. That being said, Maui is GMT -10. If it is 9am in Maui, it is 7am in McMurdo, the next day!
Thank you,~Brandon
