Where do you live at? A hotel, or a tent, and how? Are there any special rules that you have to follow, like, do you have to eat here and throw away food there, and sleep with this or that?

At McMurdo we are sleeping in dorms.  5-6 people per room, bathrooms, showers, etc.  In the field we will be sleeping in Scott tents.  You can see a couple pictures of those in the photo gallery.  We eat in the cafeteria that is in one of the dorm buildings.You bring up an interesting question with the throwing food away, etc.  There are very strict rules for where food waste, trash, and everything else goes!  It all has to be sorted and packaged separately, then shipped off the continent back to the states where it is almost all recycled!  There is no real trash bin.  I will make sure to take a picture of one of the stations.  We don't have to take it any place special, we just look at the bins and make sure we throw it into the right one.  It's like one big trash can with a bunch of divided slots for different types of trash.  Very neat actually!  Nothing here is wasted!
