Hi Jesus -
I think that it is really cool that you are in eighth grade because that's the grade that I teach.
The way that I got the idea for making a ROV was from the research project that I was selected to join.
The project is called Antarctica Undersea ROV 2008 and the lead researcher is Dr. Stacy Kim.  Stacy, her husband Bob, and the other members of the team have developed an underwater ROV that they are testing in Antarctica.  Their ROV is called S.C.I.N.I. and it can be deployed through a hole in the ice that is 15 cm wide (that's about 5 inches).  Stacy and Bob went to Antarctica last year with a teacher from Flagstaff named Mindy Bell.  You can read all about their adventures by going to Antarctica Undersea ROV 2007.
I'm glad that you like our design.  We got the plans from a book entitled Build Your Own Underwater Robot and Other Wet Projects.  Our ROV is a bit bigger than S.C.I.N.I. and not nearly as fancy but S.A.R.A. is still really cool.
I would love to get e-mails from you while I'm in Antarctica.  I am leaving on November 4th.  Feel free to write me before I leave if you want to.  Talk to you soon.
