What are you doin sounds cool. But I wouldn't have been be able to wake up so early. I have a few questions for you. How does the tent get heat inside it. Then how does the tent hold the heat inside it. Also do you sleep on cots inside it and if not how do you stay warm when you are lying on the ground in the tent. Matt

Hi Matt -
I think it is really cool too and I wish I could stay in bed a little longer but my boss says no.
The tent will have a heater in it.  It also has two layers so that provides some additional insulation.  There will be a lot of people in the tent so that will also help (no one wants to stay out in the wind if they don't have to).
We won't be sleeping in the Arctic Oven.  The plan is to set up a camp on Heald Island and then fly back and forth each day in a helicopter (is that cool or what?).
Some people do sleep in this type of tent.  They sometimes use cots if they are staying a long time or they use sleeping bags for short trips.  To help stay warm they put two mats under the sleeping bag.  They also have a fleece sleeping bag that goes inside a mummy sleeping bag that can cover your whole body.  Believe it or not, it is pretty warm.  The only problem is that the ground is very hard.  I slept in something like this during my "Happy Camper" training.  I chose to sleep in a snow trench instead of a tent.  It was alright.
Would you like to try sleeping in something like this?
Thanks for the questions and I hope to hear from you again.
