Are you the one diving. intro to science nick c

Stacy Kim

Hi Nick,I am one of the divers. It is very hard to recognize us because we
are wearing 3 hoods and a large amount of fluffy warm underwear under
our drysuits, so we all look like the michelin man. The other divers
this year are Bob Zook, Francois Cazenave, Kamille Hammerstrom,
Isabelle Brissac, Marco Flagg and Henry Kaiser - a whole school of
us! I will be the only one diving surface supply, as I am the only
one with that training. In surface supply diving you are connected by
a hose to the surface that carries your air, so you do not have to
carry a tank. I will wear a full face mask, which will protect me
from the contaminated water in some of the areas very close to McMurdo
Station.
Best, Stacy

Hey Nick,
I will not be diving as I am not certified; although, I would like to learn someday. My job will be one as dive tender when the others are diving. That means that I will help them get ready to dive, help them with their equipment, gloves, dive masks, hoods, etc. It takes another person to help them get ready. That also means that when they're done diving, I'll help them out of the dive hole and will help them take their equipment and gear off. Then we get to lug it all back to base for another time!
