Hi Brandon,We take classes to learn to read the ice and we work hard to stay
safe. But accidents do happen sometimes, and I once slipped in to my
waist when a hole we were melting had expanded sideways instead of
downwards and the thin crust on top broke. Fortunately it was a warm
day and we were not far from our camp, and we all remembered our
training and quickly got me warm and dry. It was embarrassing, but
not life threatening.
