Why don't you gain weight down there?? 6000 calories....really??? Can I come???

Stacy Kim

It's so cold, and we are working so hard, that we burn a lot ofcalories. I am not sure about 6000 calories, but I do know I can eat
as much as I want, which I certainly can't do here. It's pretty hard
work, not to mention the cold, so it's not for free!
Other people who are not working outdoors and diving like we are, do
have a problem with gaining weight down there. Four free meals a day
seems to encourage overeating!

One thing we covered during my logistics call is that when we are hungry, we need to eat then! (And, I'm really bad about that.) The reason being? That's our body's way of saying that we need fuel to burn to stay warm. If we don't eat, we'll keep getting colder and colder.
Another thing I was told was that I would crave sugars and fats, and that is perfectly normal down there. I must say that I'm looking forward to being able to eat pretty much whatever but know that once I leave, it's back to moderation. (And, I'm looking forward to the (2) candy bars a day!)
Remember, applications are due Oct 5!!
