Hi. I was wondering how you can stay in the cold that long and be bothered by it?????Surprised  Oh and i have 1more Q, have you ever touched a penguin up there?????Laughing

Thank you,

The warm clothes really protect you from the cold, but when the wind blows, it is not fun!  In a lot of my pictures the people look like they don't have faces, because they are wearing a balaclava (hood), a neck gaiter, goggles, and the hood from Big Red!Have Mr. Beckendorf read you some sections from "The Winter Journey" before he leaves.  Apsley Cherry-Garrard went on a trip to a penguin colony in the winter and it has fantastic descriptions of how cold it was...
I'm hoping to SEE penguins but there are very strict rules from the Antarctic Treaty and each countries own regulations about not influencing the animals with your presence.  So, if the penguins (or seals) react to you, you are too close!  I'm glad I have a telephoto lens on my camera.
