Teal says that the WATIZIT is the ski on the twin otter plane.  Then we saw the picture further down and are pretty sure she is correct.

Questions for you today.....

Do you like Alaska or Antarctica better?

Does the snow evaporate and just not melt?

Do you miss the sunset?

Since the snow doesn't melt, how many inches/feet of snow are there on the ground?

We'll talk with you later on the IPY Live!

Very good, Teal is correct!!!!Alaska and Antarctica are two completely different kinds of places, so it is difficult to compare them. It is kind of like asking do you like shoes, are shirts better.
George says that sublimation (when snow just changes from a solid into a gas without melting) does occur quite abit in some areas, but in most the snow just gets deeper.
I really don't miss the sun setting, however I stay up a lot later when it doesn't get dark.
Near the center of the continent the snow/ice is over two miles thick.
Thanks for joining the IPY webinar!!!
