Hey Mr. B.,

It is colder here this morning than it was there when you wrote your journal entry last night.  We enjoyed learning about the greenhouse and seeing the pictures.

We have learned that Sir Edmund Hillary was the 3rd person to reach the South Pole.  He was also responsible for founding Scott's Base.

WATIZIT possible answers:  It was hard to tell depth and distance in this picture and we weren't sure if it was a close up of something or a picture from far away.

penguin tracks

seal tracks

artic tern tracks

machine of some kind

Questions:

Why is hydroponics considered safe for people, but cloning is not?  Both seem to be manipulated growth.

What kinds of snacks do you eat and do you go to the gallery to get them?

What does austral mean?  We read it on the home page when we were reading about the tern.

What was your favorite thing you saw in the greenhouse?

 Thank you!

3D and 3R  Cool

So many great questions, you must have a great teacher!!!Very good answers on Hillary and on the tracks. Sir Hillary was the third group to reach the Pole, he was also the FIRST to drive to the Pole.
The tracks are from penguins. Have you ever seen video where they walk for awhile and then fall on their belly and slide and then get up and walk. Either that is what casued the tracks, or maybe the sow was harder where you don't see tracks. I'm not sure which was the case.
Wow your first question is really tough to answer and depending on who you ask you will get different answers. Just this week the US government said that cloned animals are safe to eat. You are absolutely correct that they are both manipulated. Some people like to have foods that are as "natural" as possible, but almost all foods (even organic) are manipulated in one way or another. Some more than others.
Our snacks have all been manipulated alot, in other junk food ( try not to eat many of them).   Here is a picture of what is on the cabinet beside me.

Austral refers to south. For example the northern lights are called aurora borealis and the southern lights are called aurora australis.
I really liked the room with herbs.
