In your Journal, you mentioned you had a GPS to help you find your way in the snow storm.  Did you, also, have radio or other means of communication back to your home base?  Do cell phones work in your area?

Hope you are having a really good time. We are enjoying all the Posts, Journal enteries and photos.

Love, your mother

Hi, it's great to hear from you!!!Cell phones do not work, but we have a rdaio and are required to call in at deisgnated times, if you don't a search and rescue will be called, so you sure don't want to forget to call in.
Most of the way out we were also following a flagged route, but once we got close to the station we were away from the flags and could not see them anymore. We could follow our tracks back also.
Love Kirk

When reading your journal, my students were very concerned that you were away from your family over the holidays.  I think they will be happy to read the posts from your mother!  I told them that not many mothers get holiday greetings from Antarctica!Ms. Meier, Blanco MS
