The weird thing about the dogs was that they got along so well for a month.  I think that Bailey got tired (and jealous) of Heidi and Daisy playing so much.  I'm glad that we kept her and am sorry that we weren't able to have her the whole time.  I was talking with M&D at the very beginning when Daisy and Heidi were fussing at each other some.  They had said that they would take her if needed.  Well, we didn't think that would happen until that second week of January.  Starting then we were able to keep Daisy with either of our dogs, but couldn't put ours together, with or without Daisy.  When the 'pretty vicious' fighting started I called south.  I think that Daisy's being spoiled pretty badly right now and they (all three of them) seem to be having fun.  You may not get her back!  SurprisedIf things had continued here the way they did for a month, you may not have gotten her back from us!

Your pictures are great, but only bring up more questions for me.  You showed a picture of a rec tent and the galley.  Neither were very big.  How many people are at the WAIS site at a time and what in the world is in the rec tent?  Is the food in the galley there the same type of offerings as in McMurdo?  You also showed a pic of people sleeping on the plane and they were all bundled up.  Was there not heat on the airplane or is it just too much trouble to take all of your gear off and put back on when you arrive?

As I was looking through the pictures I had more questions, but didn't write them down.  I'll have to look through and see if I can remember what they were.

I think I the flags in the WATIZIT picture are pee poles.

Good to hear from you again!  I know that my girls will be excited to read more about what you are doing.  They are learning so much and I love the fact that they are getting their parents involved, too.  You are teaching a lot of us!

Hope Heidi and Bailey are doing ok now.I just finished posting journal reports from my time at WAIS so some of your questions I answered there. There were around 30+ people when we were at WAIS but the camp was shutting down, during the main part of the season around 60+ people were there. In fact the camp manager lefton the smae flight we did. The majority of people left was the crew who had just flown in to take down the camp. The Galley is bigger than it looks, not wide but fairly long (100-130' ???)
I didn't actually go in the Rec. tent but from what I understand the shower was in there and a TV, I assume with VCR and/orDVD player.
The food was much better at WAIS than here at McMurdo. Although someone said that the green salad we had there was the first they had had since Nov.
On the flight to WAIS on the LC-130 it was hot on the plane and we shed clothes, generally just Big Red.  (We are required to wear our ECW any time we get on an aircraft). But on the flight back to McMurdo it was fairly cold on board so most people kept on all of their gear. I have no idea how the heat is regulated, but some areas on the plane can be a lot hotter than other areas.
Thanks for all of the questions
Kirk
