Hi 3W,It is good to hear from you. 
Sorry, I really didn't see or hear Scott's ghost. But the sound is related to the wind.
There is a small gift shop here, that also has a few food items and other things for sell.
We only had one helo, but there are four here in McMUrdo. But they have to stay within 100 miles of each other.
The early explorers used seals and penguins for food. But The Antarctic Treaty now protects all of the living things here.
There is a hospital here in McMurdo, although it is really more of a clinic than an actual hospital. So anyone with a major injury is evacuated to New Zealand which is a 5-6 hour flight.
