Antarctic Weather Stations

Dear Mr.B,

It's Brooke B. from 3-R (again) and we were catching up on your journal entrys today in class. While Mrs.Roberts read along I wrote down a few questions that I would like to ask you:

1.  Why can't anybody live in Antarctica?

2.  How does it, why does it, and what causes the snow sheet to move?

3.  What desserts does The Galley serve? (They must be pretty yummy to talk about them so much)

4.  3-D and 3-R and my friend Ellie really want to know if the snow there is packed or powdery!?!?

This is a bonus question!:

Did you spend much time with Jelly (the bear)? Because just today I heard he got lost!!!!!!!!!!

Question #1- That is really an interesting question. Technically no body owns the continent, so if someone wanted to live there I suppose they could. However, some how they would have to be able to provide everything for themself. There is nobody there to build their house, no stores to get food, not even a way to grow their own food, no electricity. Gravity makes the ice sheets move. They are sliding down hill.
There were many different desserts but my favorite was a pie at WAIS Divide. It had a graham cracker crust with lots of nuts, caramel and chocolate.
There is both packed and powder, but a lot more packed.
I did get to spend a lot of time with Jelly. Fortunately Jonathan used his radio to call Search and Rescue who were able to save jelly from becoming frozen into the ice.
