Hi Mr.B

How many other people came with you Antarctica?

How did Mr.Scott die and why is he such a big deal?

When you had Happy Camper Class how did you keep your food warm in that kitchen?

Thankyou

Mr. Scott' full name was Robert Falcon Scott. He was British and was an early 1900's explorer here in Antarctica. He built the hut/cabin in 1901 (called Discovery Hut) that the race went by, I have also posted some picture of the hut. The hut was used by Scott and other explorers. About 10 years later Scott returned to Antarctica to try to lead the first eploration to reach the South Pole. He and his men did make it to the South Pole, but another team of explorers beat them by about a month. Although Scott and his team did get to the Pole, they died on the way back. There is still a seal, that they had killed for food, lying in front of the hut.The food did not stay warm. Our dinner was freeze dried food that we added boiling water to and then we just ate it. If it is really cold keeping your drinking water unfrozen can be a problem. It will help to keep your water bottle inside your parka.
Thanks for writing.

Dear Mr.BThanks for writing back!
Is McMurdo on Ross Island and if so what side is it on?
On Antarctica is it more snow an it or is there more ice.
Have you seen any parts of Antarctica that does not have snow?

Great questions,Yes McMurdo is on Ross Island. It is on the end of a long penisula on the south end of the island. But the island, is mostly surrounded by frozen sea ice, not liquid water, so you can actually drive off of the island.
There is more ice than snow, but the ice on the continent originally fell as snow and becme packed together to become ice.
A couple of days ago here in McMurdo there was almost no snow. But now we have had about 3 inches fall in the last 24 hours.
