Kirk, Wow, what fantastic pics and information loaded Journal and responses to Posts. Are all or most of the pics on your camera? Trying to figure how to save them or maybe just transfer them from you camera to my PC when you return.

How heavy are the snow blocks?  How long do they last once the walls are built?

Something to think about.  TRS is having a photo contest titled "The Many Faces of TRS."  Anyone, including current teachers, can enter. They say "teachers can be seen in a variety of settings..." and that is what they are trying to depict. Photos of what you are doing would be rather unique.  The contest ends May 1, so you would have time to enter the contest if you choose to.

It is great to hear from you, hope all is well.I transfer pics onto the laptop, I filled up my 2 gig card just at Snow School. I will then transfer the pics onto a cd.
The snow blocks were maybe 30 pounds, not too heavy. It of course depends on how large you cut them. How long they last depends on the weather.  The more wind  the faster they erode away and/or get buried.  I  do not know an actual  time, but it will vary. There were some close by that other campers had made they were less than a month old that were mostly just a mound of snow.
Thanks fro the TRS info, I'll check it out.
Hope construction is going well and winding down.

Hey Kirk, Since I am following your journal completely I saw the saving question from your Mom and Dad; I am right clicking on each of your photos and saving them to a Kirk B. file to take to school (electronicaly) to show the kiddos.
of coures we will look at your journal as well

How neat to be having a blast while teaching us kids, old and young, so many facinatiing and interesting things from many science disciplines to survival. After your experiences in Alaska and Wyoming, you could have probably have taught the survival class.  I am impressed by the questions coming in from the students.  Construction is progressing slowly because of the holidays, they should be finished by the middle of next week.D
