Hi Mr. Taterka!

Hope your summer is going well! We've been reading your journals and wanted to congratulate you and your team on a successful trip. Everything seems very interesting (except the spiders)! We never knew how nice Alaska was, and the photos really capture the state's beauty well.

We thought of you on our recent mission trip to Kentucky. Once we reached Kentucky, there were countless coal burning power plants and piles of coal. Even the residents of Kentucky were very 'pro-coal'. It was rare seeing a car without a coal related bumper sticker. "Friends of coal" and "End the war on coal....Fire obama" were frequent posters and bumper stickers we saw.

Good luck on the rest of your trip!

Margo & Geena -
Great to hear from you! Like I was saying all year, you can't talk about the environment without getting into politics & economics, and it sounds like that came through loud and clear in eastern KY.
You two are getting very political these days. Maybe it was your talk with the Gov? Your next challenge should be to find a way to bring alternative energy and new, green jobs to KY? What do you think?
Good job on the mission, and enjoy the rest of the summer!
