Maggie,

One of my students, Wesley, would like to know how thick the ice is and what percent is under water?

I'm sure enjoy all of your journals and pics.

Hi Kirk (and hello to Wesley too)
The ice that we have been going through for the past few days has been very
thin, about 10 inches at the most. All of a sudden we got into this jumbled
block ice, where it has frozen and refrozen and busted up and frozen in a
big jumble. The ice core people said that ice was over a meter and a half
thick.

Now that's thick!

I would say most of the ice is about 10-20 inches thick.

aloha,

Maggie
