Do you expect to see any whales while you are on the boat? I so what type do you expect to see? With the global warming do think you might find any animals frozen in the ice from long ago? From Denton Kaya and Matt Pulliam.

Hi Denton and Matt,Wow, you are my first questions from my classes. An extra 5 points to each of you for being the first, and for asking such fabulous questions!
What whales do I expect to see?
I hope that I will get to see some of our Hawaiian Humpbacks that remained up in Alaska over the winter. I am not sure where they hang out, but I believe I will be in the area. I am told that fin whales, and bowhead whales might be found. Belugas are a possibility, but they are very rare. I will try and take a picture of any of them so you can see the environment that they live in is very different from our warm Hawaiian waters.

Wow! I didn't even think about that. I know that the ice we are going to break through is mostly new ice. I don't believe we will be around ice that is so old. Keep reading my journal to find out what we do see and discover
