Hello to the Ms. Staup on the Healy! I followed last years polar expedition on the Healy and am pleased to find you keeping up the difficult task of writing such a great journal for all the kids, and other interested folk, out there. I'm emailing from Gainesville, Florida, and am a University of Florida graduate student studying wildlife ecology and black bears, so my interest in the Healys expedition is more than just simple curiosity. All the data being collected in this cruise is essential in understanding how global warming is affecting the artic. And also, if you don't mind, please extend a "Hi!" to my best friend Liz Labunski, one of the USFWS bird and marine mammal observers on the Healy.
