Hi Ms Staup,

I really enjoyed listening to your "Live event from IPY".  The wind chill of -31 F you reported is brutal.  Why is the weather so bad in that location?   We only had one bad day with a wind chill of -22 F on the ice camp.  Cathy and I hope you stay warm!

It’s great to know you made it back from ice camp. I hope you and Cathy were able to stay warm. Getting ready to take a shower was a real chore. The weather was so bad that day because of a high front off of Russia and a low front from the islands. So those of us in the middle paid the price.

The most interesting thing of the day was seeing a
pod of killer whales on the starboard side of the ship.
You could see their dorsal fins and their grey saddlebacks 
behind them.

I made it through my first week of teaching.  Cathy is coming in on friday to talk to the Hartford High physics and Geology classes.
What is the most unexpected thing that has happened on your trip?

Hi Robert!! 
It is good to hear that you have survived your first week back at school. 
 
The most unexpected thing that has happened on my trip would be going to the Priblofs islands on two very different modes of transportation, a zodiac boat and a helicopter.  Plus how great it was to interact with the communities from both of the islands. It was a great time.
