Robyn-

From your Charlotte fan club I wanted to say Hi!  What kind of birds are you seeing up there?  Larry and I just got back from Costa Rica (much warmer than where you are) and saw some amazing birds.  What other kinds of wildlife are you seeing?  My APES students are really worried about the polar bears and global warming.

We have 3 bird observers on the ship, so we have seen a lot of birds. We have seen gulls( glaucous, glaucous-winged, herring, ivory), guillemots, murres, eiders, kittiwakes, and fulmars. The most have been the murres at about 1800.
Between on the ship and aerial survey by helicopters, the cruise has seen humpback whale, minke whale, beluga, polar bear, seals, and walrus. I have seen the minke, fur seals, spotted seals, walrus, and lots of birds.
