Hi Craig,

I was wondering why the dogs have little booties on their feet? Do they wear these for the whole race, or only parts?

Beautiful Pictures!

There two reasons why mushers put booties on dogs, both pertaining to feet protection. One, they protect the dogs feet and pads over rough terrain. Two, the booties keep snow and ice from building up between the toes and pads. Plus, some dogs like to wear them because they think they are cool when they wear the booties.
