Yes, the Bering Sea ecosystem is driven by the sun's energy that causes the algae bloom in the spring. The system is dependent upon this source of food and nutrients, either they are eaten by amphipods, prey for arctic cod, which are prey for seals, which are prey for polar bears or they die and fall to the sea floor.
