Hey Mr.Wood this is Erika from period 4 I wanted to tell you the answers to some of the questions in some of your journals.
March 19,2012: Question: What do you think some of those important adaptions are? Answer: I think the important adaptions are the polar bears have white/clear fur so it can blend in and it has black skin to keep it warm.
March 20,2012: Question: What do we expect the CO2 measurements to be doing at this time of year? Answer: We would expect the CO2 measurements to be going up since its almost spring. However, it is Alaska so the CO2 level may be going up since you just uncovered the dirt and the CO2 maybe going up. Question: Would we see them going up as gas is released from the tundra source, or would we watch the measurements drop as CO2 is taken into the tundra sink? Answer: We would see them going up as gas is released from the tundra source. Question: Does the time of day really play a big role during this time of year? Answer: No because the snow covers the plants which prevents the photosynthesis from happening.
March 24,2012: Question: Why is the side with the snow piled the most, the leeward side, called the Winter Warming side? Answer: The leeward side is called the Winter Warming side because it has the most snow and snow acts as an insulator. Question: Why worry about the amount of snow cover in the first place? Answer: Precipitation will increase the amount in areas like Alaska may go up.
