Dear John: Greetings from another PolarTREC teacher (Finland '09.) It's a rare teacher that goes to the Arctic - it's a much rarer teacher who goes to both the Arctic and the Antarctic. You are like PolarTREC's logo, the Arctic Tern! Do you know how many other PolarTREC teachers have been to both?

I don't think it is that many, but I have a personal interest in this because I need to get to the McMurdo Dry Valleys to deploy a set of marble and glass tiles on the ground for our school's artificial hypoliths project.

Any advice on how a teacher with a legit project can get to Antarctica?

yours, Michael Wing

Thanks for the comments. I do feel pretty special being able to be in the field this much and bring the students along. The Dry Valleys are pretty special too. I have worked in several of them and they would fit in to your project well. Let me think about it.Cheers,
John
