Hi Mr. Wood, This is Steven from your third period class. I was wondering what kinds of plants and animals you saw in Denali besides moose. Also, what is it like riding on a dog sled? I hope you are having a good time in Alaska.

Thanks for the questions. We didn't see much else in the park except some snowshoe hares. Riding on a dog sled is so cool! When the dogs take off they really pull hard and you have to hang on pretty tight! They love running in the snow!Cheers,

Dear Mr. Wood,Thanks for replying to my questions. All of the stuff you've done so far sounds so cool! I had another question for you. Have you seen any insects or any interesting animals at or near your study site?

John Wood

Good question. I have started seeing insects and other invertebrates around the study site. There seems to be several types of flies. I have seen a growing number of moths and a couple of butterflies. The most interesting small creature so far is a type of spider that has been showing up around the area. I will look in to what these organisms are and let you know.Cheers,

Dear Mr. Wood,
Thank you for replying again. Everything sounds really interesting. I have some other questions for you. What does the spider you've seen around your site look like? Is it big or small?

At this point I have seen a couple of different types of spiders. All of them are pretty small and dark. One has a reddish abdomen, but I haven't yet taken a really close look at them. I am collecting photos of spiders and other invertebrates and will write a journal about them soon.Cheers,
