Hey Mr. Wood it's Frankie from per. 3. I wanted to ask you about the musk ox. If you get close enough to them will they be defensive if their kid is next to them and try to attack you? Also at the place where they keep the musk oxen do they let the calves go once they are ready to go into the wild or do they keep them and keep doing research on them; the same for caribou? Also, why are the calves of caribou black at first? Thanks Mr. wood.

John Wood

Thanks for the questions. The mother will ram you if you get too close to the baby. From what I hear that can hurt pretty bad! The university will keep the young ones also for study. The caribou calves are dark to help them blend in with the tundra and the shade they hide in at times.Mr. Wood
