Hi John, I really liked your explanation of NDVI. My students just finished an assignment from GLOBE that had images of NDVI and Ocean Chlorophyll. We learned that the ocean chlorophyll images uses MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) aboard NASA's Aqua satellite and the NDVI uses MODIS on NASA's Terra satellite. What if any differences are there if any between the technology used in these global images compared to the technology that you and the scientists are using on a smaller scale?

Thanks, Betsy

Thanks for the comments and the question. The technology is really the same between the two applications. NASA has adapted theirs for global monitoring and keeping track of changes in vegetation at more specific locations. We are doing the same thing just on a much smaller scale. We are also using the same programs to determine our values. Our equipment is more portable!John
