Life must be very different there... so what changes did you have to make to live in Antartica

It is funny, I anticipated complete and utter cultural and environmental shock while I was preparing for Antarctica, only to experience very little of either once I arrived on the Ice. I think I am fortunate in that this was not my first time living in a remote, frozen land. I spent many seasons working in the Bering Sea off the Alaskan coast and basing my life out of Dutch Harbor and Naknek, Alaska- both very rough and rural towns. McMurdo Station reminded me of my Alaskan towns in respects to the population, the dirt roads and make-up of town amenities. The weather and 24 hours of daylight are also very similar to what I experienced in my years in Alaska. McMurdo Station felt like a comfy home away from home.Keep Cool! Sarah
