Hi Sarah,

I love reading about your adventures! I can't wait to hear how you like camping out there. I'm going to introduce my 7th grade science class to your adventures this week. I'm glad you are learning so much about an amazing place.

Take care, Terry

Coupeville Middle School PS: we've got frost here!

Terry,
I cannot wait to visit your classes when I return from Antarctica! I wanted to get up to Coupeville before leaving the Islan, but packing and planning took way more time than I expected!
Camping is awesome- I still cannot get over the fact that there are no animals or other visible organisms to worry about or see around camp. I have not seen even a bird since coming out to the Dry Valleys.
I hope you are able to join my webinar on Dec. 9th!
I'll see you when I return.
Keep Cool! Sarah

Sarah,
That will be great to have you visit my students. We will listen to your webinar this Wednesday. I have my 8th grade students at that time.
We got our first snow yesterday - about an inch in Freeland! It's all melted now. It's down in the 20's/30's during the day now. We are feeling your chill!
Have you seen the aurora? Terry

Terry,
It cracks me up that Whidbey Island is seeing more snow than I am in Antarctica! There are areas of the Dry Valleys that see less than a centimeter of precipitation a year! The temp at Lake Fryxell Camp is really nice this year- I think it is around 20*F most days, but I do not know for sure- we do not have a outdoor thermometer at camp!
No, I have note seen an aurora- they only show up during the Polar Night, not during the height of the Antarctic Summer.
Enjoy the snow! I look forward to having your class join the webinar tomorrow!
Keep Cool, Sarah
