Hey Ms. Pena!

In my biology class we had talked about your trip and how the seasons are different here then they are there. In fact my teacher had mentioned that this time of year the weather can get kind of bad where you are with some rain storms. And my question was whether or not this weather would affect your research at sea?

Just another student, Ana from Hartford High!!!

Ana,
Thanks for your question. The season here is fall, and we only get about 9hours of daylight a day. We have been lucky so far with fairly niceweather, but your teacher is correct that usually the weather is bad. Thebarometer pressure is usually quite low which can produce storms. I hopethat our luck continues because during bad weather and high seas we cannotdo any research. It is not safe to put the needed instruments into thewater during those conditions.
Thanks,Mrs. Pena
