Hey Karl, like the great photos and the bear spray... I always tell me physics students to run downhill from a bear and zig-zag because they have so much inertia they can't change their direction.... now I will just tell them to whip out the acme bear spray can....

I was wondering more about the flint knapping, like the photos from Oregon, I think I recognize some camping spots.... do you think you will trust little kids to flint knap with Obsedian? I like the picture of the child doing it, I wonder if kids were responsible for this at early ages back then... or if it was a male only thing, any such thing as a left handed spear?

Great Photos, keep up the nice work, Michael Lampert Polartrec buddy.

How are you? I'm sorry this is so late - I just learned late last night that my responses weren't going up. We had to severely restrict my bandwidth in order to make my emails go through the satellite phone from camp and I think that blocked my responses somehow. One thing I can strongly suggest after returning from the field is to practice the tech stuff at home. I should have done my journals using the sat phone from home but I did it the easy way as long as I could and paid the price. When do you go? During the school year? That will be great because your students can follow along.
One of the archaeologists at our site as from Oregon and so was our pilot so the Beaver State was well represented.
Hope you're well Michael, keep in touch,
Karl
