Hi Karl, Welcome to the PolarTREC team! I was just wondering what preparations you have been making with you students for your summer expedition and if your family will join you for a vacation after your expedition! Have fun and love the intro video!

Thanks for the great question! I have been doing some great lessons withthe students about the idea of North America's first inhabitants walking
across the Bering Land Bridge and about archaeology. We even did a mock
archaeological dig where second-grade students searched for and found
some (planted) obsidian flakes and tools. Watch for pictures of these
lessons coming soon. These lessons have fit very well into my
pre-existing unit on Native Americans. We've simply looked at it as
explaining where these First People came from originally.
As for my family, we're not sure yet but one idea we've had is for my
wife and baby to fly up after the expedition and meet us in Alaska so we
could all take the Alaska Ferry south together. Wouldn't that be great?
I've heard you can camp on the deck so you never miss a whale sighting
or a moment of sunset. I hope we can make that work. Thanks for your
interest,
Karl
