Dear Mr.Wood,

That is so cool that you get to beb near the crater! Would it be likely to be hit by one of the volcanic bombs if you are nearer to the top or to the bottom? If it is not likely, then how come we do not get hit? When the volcano errupts and adds new material to its surface and then gets covered by snow, if you dig would you find a black layer of lava that cooled after the erruption? Hope you can email me soon!

                      Sincerely,

Cynthia,We will be flying up to Fang today.  In two more days will move up to the observatory.  At that time we will be within a mile from the crater.  The bombs usually don't come out that far so we are pretty safe.  When the lava comes out of the volcano it melts the snow that has fallen near the top.  But if you dig in the new snow you can find the layer of lava.
Cheers,
Mr. Wood
