Hey Mr. Wood!!!Cool I just wanted to say Hi! Oh and how do you work the Gamow thing so your body will get back to the normal altitude? And were the fangs big and how many were there? ok well bye!

Vivian,
Good questions.  The Gamow bag works like a beach ball.  When you blow it up the pressure builds up inside.  When someone travels up in the mountains, the air pressure becomes less.  So by getting into the bag, the air pressure inside the bag makes your body think that you are high up in the mountains anymore.  Does that make sense?  The Fang is just a name for a feature on Mt. Erebus that looks like some really pointy rocks.  I will try and send a picture.

Oh now I get it! Does the GAMOW bag sit on top of Mt. Erebus while you guys are up there or does a helicopter bring it? Ok well thanks for answering my questions!

I hope that that helped. Yes, the GAMOW bag is like a first aid kit for altitude sickness.  We have one up here with us in case we need it.
