How old is the molten material around the volcano?

When did Mt Erebus first erupt?

Was it big like Mt St Helens or just volcanic bombs shooting out the top?

Rachel,
Good morning!  I had a very nice Thanksgiving with my group.  We had all of the regular food like turkey, stuffing, potaotes, rolls, and pecan pie.  There is a large dining room that everyone eats in.  Mt. Erebus began forming about 1.3 million years ago.  Some of the eruptions have been large, but a lot more have been more gentle.  I don't know that there has been anything as explosive as Mt. St Helens, but I will find out.
