Whats the fastest mph has the wind gone in the past?

Has it been that windy all week?

How do the lava lake form?

Wouldn't the lava just dry up because of the cold air or is the mantle just helping it flow?

Rachel,
Good questions.  Winds in Antarctica have been measured at 200mph at times!  The wind has calmed down here all day today and it has been pretty nice.  The surface of the lake cools down faster, but the lava is still very hot.
