Hey Mr. Martin, great videos and photos. It was almost as good as being there, but without the wind chill! My class is wondering about wildlife in Siberia....you started it with the walrus joke. Is there any wildlife this time of year? If so, what kind? Is most everything gone south or hibernating (that's what the class thinks)? Keep up the good work on the journals. We are really enjoying them. We look forward to the "live" production on Thursday. Stay cozy. Barney Peterson

Hello to Ms. Peterson's classes
I have not seen any wildlife since I came here.... NONE. The other day when I took a hike, I found 2 reindeer antlers and the scat of snow-shoe hair, caribou, fox, and an owl pellet! (None of it was fresh) So some animals are here... but they are not here right now.
Stay warm... T-Mart

The snow geese that live on Wrangel Island (much further to the north of you) are just north of Seattle right now---I saw them a few weeks ago. They, along with their other friends of the Siberian mainland will be back.
T-Mart..you don't know me, but Julie B-G told me about you. I am a former student of JBGs. She introduced me to your link and after feeding my baby at 3:30 am here on Easter morning I read all your entries and watched the videos. Keep up the great work. Julie's Russian field seasons have come a long way since 1995!
Happy Easter. Was it at all acknowledged up there?

Lyn,
Good to hear from you. Julie had regailed us with many stories of earlier field seasons...we certainly are not roughing it as some of the past expeditions. As far as Easter, there are plans to celebrate, but the Orthodox Easter is next Sunday. This week (the Sunday before Easter) would be Palm Sunday in western countries, but here in Russia we found out it is Pussy Willow Sunday!
Julie sends her greetings!
