HI Lesley, hopefully by the time you read this you are on Antarctica. Anxious to hear about everything. The landing, the people, the research, etc.

Katie,Thanks so much for following along - you probably know by now that I'm not there yet, but we're going to try again tomorrow morning, so keep your fingers crossed!

Hi there! Sorry you are not on the ice yet, but its nice you have people there to explore New Zealand with! Say hi to Jean for me - I met her in Washington DC last march, and my students just mailed her a bunch of penguin postcards to McMurdo Station, and she is going to mail them back to the kids! We're stuck too! Our overnight flight to Chile was canceled, so we (the 4 people on the Sea Ice team) are stuck in Dallas, due to fly out at 7:00 am Sunday morning to Santiago, then stay the night there, and fly to Punta Arenas on Monday. This delay put us about 16 hours behind schedule, but the Oden not set to sail until Weds, so its OK. Wow - international travel!!! Be safe!

Anne Marie,I've finally made it here and am anxiously awaiting our chance to get out in the field. When they said be flexible, they weren't kidding!!! We were delayed leaving Christchurch and now we've been delayed in flying out to the Central TransAntarctic Mountains (CTAM) camp. Originally we were to leave today, then it was next Wednesday, and now they say Thursday. But, I'm making the most of it all - Antarctica is Beautiful!!
