I know that as someone who would love to go to Antarctica, but can't, is there a way that we can donate things that you guys could use while down there. Such as good shoes, good sweaters and things like that?

I just got to thinking about that while reading your blog, and I think it would be something fun to do, that way you have something a little bit more to go from, other then just what people left behind. I am happy that everything is going well, oh and Lesley, your doing an amazing job on the blogging! They are quite fun to read!

What a great, generous idea!  I can't think of a single thing that could be donated - the very warm clothing is provided by the United States Antarctic Program.  As for daily clothing, people can bring multiple pieces of luggage that altogether weighs no more than 150 pounds.  Also, many of these people have friends and family send them other items.
Actually, most of the items that actually make it to Skua Central have been really picked through.  Each of the dorms has a Skua bin along with their other recycling bins.  I looked through these bins in the dorms and there are actually some really great items in there.

Thank you for the very nice compliment about my journals!  I've enjoyed writing them.
