Isabelle: How many pounds of rocks have you removed from the tunnel?

Emma: Are there any precious stone beside a crystal?

isabelle, wow, I wish i knew how many pounds, you can imagine your classroom filled with rocks covering your desks, that is about how many.emma, garnet is not very precious because there are so many of them.. but some crystals here can be hard to find... i will keep looking
spencer..if you think of the glacier as coming into salem, your school would be at the middle and the top would a few miles up the road. this is a small glacier, the big ones are in greenland and antarctica.
scottie, jens and arla were not around the other day when I woke up.
eric, the smallest space was with ice touching me everywhere, that is very cold.
diego... wow, very good question... things that are real old do not have tree rings or things like that ... instead the atoms that make up the ice are slightly different...water is a mix of hydrogen and oxygen... you look at the oxygen atoms.. some are heavy some are light... you measure how much of each you have... over time the number of heavy and light ones change and that is how you figure out how old the glacier is.
ms. cross, sorry no creatures... at least I hope not, it is really creepy being alone here..I am typing all alone here from the bottom of the glacier, no one else is here at the lab, so it will be a lonely walk back.. lots of strange noises to get used to.
Jens and Arla left earlier ..I saw them in a side tunnel... the one that leads to the water shaft, it was sealed with a big door but the door was left ajar..I will find out what they are doing there. i would never eat them! yipes,,, you guys must think I am a cannibal or something.
