How does glacial melt affect wildlife and the environment? Megan and Jordan

Ok, now I am not a biologist, but the base of the glacier when it retreats forms a pro-glacial lake, which I am sure effects other bio things... and the melt water certainly keeps cities in the andes mountains supplied with water.
