Since the glacier is in water (im pretty sure, at least) does the water freeze, attached to the glacier, making it larger?

the glacier is no longer in water. a hundred years ago it was over a lake, I am sure in winter that froze and made it bigger, but the larger effect was summer that melted it rapidly.
