Hi Mary Anne.  The Wayne Laners are eagerly anticipating news from the Arctic and since many of them do not have computers, I will be their main source of said news. Like I said before, Chico is very interested in your expedition and we are really looking forward to your posts.  We would love to hear a description of the camp when you arrive and learn more about your team members, as well as the moment when you make contact with your first Little Auk.

Take care! Mike Donnelly

Mary Anne Pell…

Hi there Wayne Lane,
Thank you for the wonderful sendoff!  I don’t feel like I am on the edge of the world at all.  With a warm, dry cabin and propane stove here, we have tea every evening and coffee every morning.  It feels quite civilized, although remote.

It is spectacularly beautiful, and the icy wind is much harsher than ever in Chico.  Every morning I look at the bay and the ice shifts, with ice bergs moving, and sea ice blocks sometimes against the beach.  The afternoon might find them 100 yards out, and then by morning they have shifted again.

Hope you are all well.
Mary Anne
