Mike,

I was curious about the vegetation on the island and came upon the two photos of different plants. What are the names of the flowers shown? We're scheduled for the main Salmon in a couple of weeks. We also ran it in June at high water. Yes it is fun. I'll offer a toast in your honor.

Hey Bob!
Thanks for checking out the website!
Why, I'm not too up on my arctic flora, but I believe the purple one to be Moss Campion (Silene acaulis) & the yellow one to be Arctic Avens (Dryas octopetala).
I thought they were even more beautiful as there is nothing but rock and ice all around them.

I'm sorry I will miss the Main Salmon this summer.  I hope you can do some exploring along the way that we didn't catch last year.
We can byob of wine to dinner on Sat. nights here.  I'll be sure to take a nice red 2 Sats. from now and toast you guys on the Main.  Of course it'll be about 10:30am your time.  Or 9:30 I guess, depending on which side of the river you're on.
We got to ride some waves in our boat today.  We were about a couple hundred meters, maybe, from the front of the glacier, in an outboard motorboat.  A huge chunk calved off and it made a small tsunami.  We turned the boat into the waves and rode 'em out.  It was pretty cool.  Not the Salmon, but I'll take it.  For sure.
Have fun.  And be safe everyone!!!
