Hi Lollie!
Good Luck with your departure and your expedition! You leave on Saturday? It is Thanksgiving (on Saturday) here at McMurdo today, so there is a 2 day holiday for the employees.  My dorm room overlooks the ice pier that your ship will be docking at in Winter Quarter's Harbor in McMurdo Sound.  We are currently taking marine samples in several of the locations in the harbor.  The harbor was used for dumping debris and materials during the period of exploration, when the Navy ran the station and when everything shifted into NSF control.  Make sure you have a pair of shoes that can deal with rocky terrain and mud here at McMurdo.  It is what I would imagine a logging camp would be like in the rainy season.  The snow melts and you are dodging puddles and streams everywhere.  You will enjoy McMurdo!!

have a great trip
Ann
