Wear can I buy the face masks/shields that they wear in the Arctic? What is the actual name of the face shield?

My son is working in ND and has ice forming on his eyelashes and asked me to help him find a face mask that will shield against the -22 degrees. Evidently the company does not provide protective equipment for these weather conditions, and the other people are suffering as much as he is.

I much appreciate your advice.

Dear Guest,I've forwarded your question to a friend down on the ice. I will let you know what I hear back. As far as I know the goggles were a standard ski google and the mask clipped on to the goggles. Hopefully my friend will tell me the name so you can find one.

Thank you! I look forward to your reply. So is there more to the face gear that they show on the pictures, other than the goggles? Any advice I can forward to him about shielding his face from the negative temperatures will greatly be appreciated.

Dear Guest, My friend from the ice, James Roth, got back to me! He says they use ski goggles with very dark lenses and a snap-on Breath Box. This one in particular: http://www.opticsplanet.com/smith-optics-sme-cme-full-mask-goggle-maskā€¦ not promoting it here, we are just reporting that that's what they use. Lots of companies (Smith, 509, and FXR Racing, for example) sell breath boxes that go perfectly with their goggles. You should ask your son about what coatings/colors he think would work best and then search for breath boxes to go with. I really liked the ones at the South Pole because the humidity just froze to the mask and not to me! it would make quite an icicle, however.
