Casey,

I have really enjoyed reading about your expedition to the pole. I admit I am envious of your opportunity and one day would like to experience the polar day and polar night. The time lapse video you posted today will be shown in my earth science classes when we discuss the day/night cycle at the poles. A side note... I would love to have a picture of you and a few team members at the cerimonial pole.... (I use a random pic of the south pole...I would rather have one with some folks I know....)

Please say Hi to Emily Wilson for me... let her know we are missing her at the Cline Observatory!

Enjoy the last few days of your time down south and safe travels home...

Hi Tim, it is great to hear from you!  It has been an incredible experience.  Did you not have the 24 hour sunlight in your expedition?  I thought you were above the arctic circle. The polar day is pretty amazing, but not sure I'm quite up for the long polar night yet...
I am sure you would love the south pole, there is such cool astronomical and atmospheric research being done there, and such a crazy environment!  And everyone is very helpful and friendly. I met a couple of researchers on other projects, and they seemed very interested in the idea of educational outreach, so I gave them contact information for PolarTREC - maybe you can swing a second tour of duty, this time to the south!
Emily was instrumental in my second Ice Cream Experiment - I still need to edit the video and post it, but she supplied me with isopropyl alcohol from the Med center to assist the freezing process. We talked about you and how it's such a small world!  She was still recovering from a nasty case of "the crud" when I left...
I definitely have some "hero shots" of the ceremonial pole, not with my whole team though.  I can send you one of those to your PolarTREC e-mail address.
