Whats the history behind that toe on the statue of Magellan? Why do people think its good luck?

Larry,That's a great question. I've asked a lot of people on the boat and no
one seems to really know where the tradition comes from. It's kind of a
local legend, but I haven't been able to verify where it comes from.
What is more interesting is that most people actually thought it was
Magellan's toe, not a Native American's toe. People are rather
oblivious to what is right in front of them sometimes.
